How do I ship my paintings?
Because these are oil paintings they ship really well. There is no glass to worry with, and if framing is involved, a bit more support and bubble wrap is used to protect those edges.
Here is an example of a 30" x 40" canvas (not framed) being prepped for shipment.
This painting is now in its forever home making viewers very happy!
Our painting on my big worktable. Our first job is to cover the entire painting with parchment paper.
This prevents the bubble wrap from sticking to the paint film.
Then we move in with the bubble wrap! Lots and lots of bubble wrap.
Bubble wrap complete with at least a 2-inch cushion.
We then place the bubble wrapped painting into a box made from rigid foam building insulation.
It's super strong, super lightweight and can withstand carrier drops from 6 feet.
The package is boxed in heavy duty cardboard, paperwork placed, then shipping tape around all.
Fed Ex does a beautiful job of handling the large paintings and the USPS does great with the smaller and medium pieces.
Always save that shipping material. The cardboard boxes and/or the rigid foam sheets can make for some great cat play forts, (if you're into cats), or grandchildren forts, when they come to visit! If its winter, the boxes make the best oversized sleds or windshield covers for that ice storm. I can go on and on, but you get the idea. Just store them under a bed till you need them.
A few shop policies:
Free shipping is offered within the continental US only. I do use a 3rd party shipping insurance company for paintings valued over the shipping carrier's standard coverage. These paintings will usually ship with an adult signature required. I do photograph the packaging with shipping labels prior to shipment for the insurance coverages. If a package comes with obvious damage, you can refuse the shipment.
Here's what my 3rd party insurance company says:
"If the package arrives damaged, we strongly encourage your recipient to refuse the package or to write clear reservations on the delivery slip explaining what is damaged. If reservations are not possible, notify us of the damage as soon as possible. We will send the recipient an email explaining what to do. Please include the recipient's email address when purchasing insurance. Finally, do not throw away damaged packages or boxes: pictures will be requested when you file your claim."
Luckily, I've never had to use their services, but just in case, they will send instructions by email to you. And we can get things sorted!
I can do a reduced rate to Canada depending on the painting size. Please contact me for more information on shipping international. The buyer is responsible for all custom, duty, taxes associated with this type of shipment.

I gladly accept returns for my Paintings, but I can't for Print on Demand "POD" prints.
