Vase of Yellow Roses oil painting

Having attempted to grow roses for many years only to have the local deer population mow them down, I was really excited about our back yard this year.  Only recently with a tall privacy fence around our back yard has it been possible for me to even think about growing roses.

I have pictures of our yellow rose from in the front yard.  It was a magnificent specimen with a deep cadmium yellow center.  Huge blossoms that had 3 to 6 blooms per stalk.  I've used those photos over the years for previous works and really wanted to try again in growing some.

This spring, I had a fine display in which I harvested and brought to our back porch to accompany a BBQ dinner we had planned.  (subsequently however, tent caterpillars attacked the bush, and it is just beginning to recover)

As the sun began to set over the blue ridge, we had sun beams flashing though our trees onto the vase to make the roses appear to glow from within.  (they were back lit)

It is this memory I wanted to capture forever.

Good food, family and a gorgeous centerpiece of glowing yellow roses as our day ended.  I'm sure you've had a similar experience with a sunset in your life.

Why not re-live that experience through my "Eternal Beauty", yellow roses in a crystal vase.  It is now available!

With best wishes,

Until next time,

Delmus

to get daily postings of what I'm up to. I show the paintings I'm working on through out the entire process, before I even post them to my website, you could own one of these creations of beauty!

My paintings are created using a time honored technique.  Developed and perfected by Dutch and Italians in the 1600's. (Flemish Technique) Yea, it's that old.  It involves several layers of paint and a great deal of time.  It is not a Bob Ross style work, it is not a "recreation" which is a copy of an original work.  It takes longer than 30 minutes to produce, but rather days, and sometimes weeks.

The eyes are said to be the windows to our soul.  When viewing art, we are allowing that beauty to enter our soul, to enlighten, uplift, and inspire our being in ways that have been proven to enrich our lives.  Put some art into your soul today!

What do I paint?  Things of beauty.  It's just that simple.

I create my paintings out of need.  It's not something I have much choice with.  Painting is my drug.  When I'm not painting, or my schedule is keeping me away from my easel, I'm grumpy, irritable, distant and moody.  When painting, I'm in my element.  All is right with the world.     It makes me feel whole and human.

My work has a great importance to it also. It forces us to stop and take a look at the beauty that surrounds us every where.  To allow light and color to touch that part of us that says we are alive, and that these fleeting moments shown in my work can be forever captured on the canvas.
